Stampin’UP! Swirly Bird

The new Stampin’UP! catalog is here and live. I decided that I would like to focus on one stamp set for this month, or at least for a week or two, and the Swirly Bird stamp set is the choice for June! I’m not one to usually do quick and simple cards but for my first time playing with the stamp set this is what I came up with.

I stamped my sentiment (Wetlands #126695 wood, #126697 clear) using Momento Tuxedo Black ink (#132708). This is backwards from what I usually do but I wasn’t sure where I wanted to place my flowers and this allowed me to determine that after placing the sentiment. I then stamped the images from Swirly Bird (#141749 photopolymer). I used Peekaboo Peach (#141398), Calypso Coral (#126983) as the over tone, Sweet Sugarplum (#141395), Emerald Envy (#141396) stamping in second generation for the leaves and then full strength for the veins. I also used Versa Mark (#102283) and Clear Embossing Powder (#109130) in hopes of giving just a little dimension and appearance of dew. I wanted to use the Swiry Scribbles Thinlits (#141497) to cut out and use at least one additional layer on the card. I had trouble finding a card stock color that I really liked for the center of the Sweet Sugarplum flower. I finally did use Sweet Sugarplum card stock (#141418) but I still wasn’t happy with it. Next I tried inking the edges of the cutout and finally used a dauber (#133773) and heavily inked the piece. Still not satisfied so I stamped it with Versa Mark and carefully dipped it into the Clear Embossing Powder. Heat set all embossing with the Heat Tool (#129053) and I was satisfied.  The card base is the new Dapper Denim (#141414) with the front panel using Very Vanilla (#101650).

I hope you enjoyed this card. If so be sure to leave a comment below.
