Stampin’UP! Swirly Bird

swirly bird 1.a

The new Stampin’UP! catalog is here and live. I decided that I would like to focus on one stamp set for this month, or at least for a week or two, and the Swirly Bird stamp set is the choice for June! I’m not one to usually do quick and simple cards but for my first time playing with the stamp set this is what I came up with.

I stamped my sentiment (Wetlands #126695 wood, #126697 clear) using Momento Tuxedo Black ink (#132708). This is backwards from what I usually do but I wasn’t sure where I wanted to place my flowers and this allowed me to determine that after placing the sentiment. I then stamped the images from Swirly Bird (#141749 photopolymer). I used Peekaboo Peach (#141398), Calypso Coral (#126983) as the over tone, Sweet Sugarplum (#141395), Emerald Envy (#141396) stamping in second generation for the leaves and then full strength for the veins. I also used Versa Mark (#102283) and Clear Embossing Powder (#109130) in hopes of giving just a little dimension and appearance of dew. I wanted to use the Swiry Scribbles Thinlits (#141497) to cut out and use at least one additional layer on the card. I had trouble finding a card stock color that I really liked for the center of the Sweet Sugarplum flower. I finally did use Sweet Sugarplum card stock (#141418) but I still wasn’t happy with it. Next I tried inking the edges of the cutout and finally used a dauber (#133773) and heavily inked the piece. Still not satisfied so I stamped it with Versa Mark and carefully dipped it into the Clear Embossing Powder. Heat set all embossing with the Heat Tool (#129053) and I was satisfied.  The card base is the new Dapper Denim (#141414) with the front panel using Very Vanilla (#101650).

I hope you enjoyed this card. If so be sure to leave a comment below.

Birthday with Lovely As A Tree

Posted August 6, 2015 By Becky Tuttle

I am sharing another card that will be part of the Birthday Card Class that will be held on August 14th.

This card is perfect for the men on your card list. The neutral colors paired with the Old Olive and the use of the single tree make it the perfect masculine card. This same design could be changed into a holiday card with the simple switch of the sentiment! This card design is my take on another swap that I received at convention from Janet Smith. I can guarantee that you will be seeing this design again!

Need a listing of supplies used? Here it is!

Lovely As A Tree, Remembering Your Birthday

Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Mossy Meadow, Typeset Specialty DSP

The newest My Paper Pumpkin

Posted May 23, 2015 By Becky Tuttle

It has been an extremely long time since I have posted … let’s just say, way too long!
I received the newest My Paper Pumpkin kit the other day and decided to work on it. Fortunately I receive more than one kit so I have extra materials to experiment and play with! I purchase a kit for each of my daughters but unfortunately daughter #2, Jesa, lives in southern California so we don’t get together often enough to play with our Pumpkin kits together. I finally decided that I needed to start working on her kits and gosh, why not do this newest kit. I’ll put it together and then send her a surprise package.
Here it is, this is the 2015 May My Paper Pumpkin!

Stampin’UP! Timeless Talk, such a fun stamp set!

Posted August 13, 2013 By Becky Tuttle

I pulled out a new stamp set and decided to play some with it. I love this set. It is going to be perfect for those masculine cards that are needed but today I gave it the feminine flair. I saw a card sample similar to this and apologize because I can’t remember where or who the original card was from. I did some of my own little changes to it … colors, embossing  folder, but basically the design is the same. Just a really fun and easy card to make.

Just a little something to send to someone who I have not spoken with for awhile. I know she will love it!

Just a little something to send to someone who I have not spoken with for awhile. I know she will love it!

Stamp Set: Timeless Talk

Card Stock: Pool Party, Whisper White, Crumb Cake

DSP: Epic Day This and That (sample uses back side, should have been blue print)

Ink: Stazon Black

Other: Big Shot, Stylish Stripes EF, Delicate Designs EF, Window Frames Framelit, Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Card Base: Pool Party CS 8 ½ x 5 ½

Card Front: Whisper White CS 5 ¼ x 4, ½ x 2 ¼, scrap for stamping image, Crumb Cake 3 ½ x 3, DSP ½ x 5 ¼.

Construction:

  • Using the Big Shot and the Delicate Designs EF emboss the Whisper White CS along the bottom edge in the landscape position. This will leave a distinct line on the CS along the edge of the embossing folder. Run the CS through the Big Shot a second time using the Stylish Stripes EF aligning it with the line from the first folder (this will be covered by the DSP so don’t worry if it is not completely straight or if there is a space between them)
  • Using the Big Shot and the 3rd framelit cut the shape from the Crumb Cake CS. Trim even with the bottom corners of the shape’s design.
  • With Black Stazon stamp the image on a piece of scrap Whisper White CS and the sentiment on the smaller piece of WW.
  • Fussy cut the image, using paper snips cut flag tails in the end of the sentiment strip.
  • Attach the embossed CS to the base of the card using glue dots.
  • Using both glue dots and some adhesive attach the Window Frame shape to the WW lining it along the pattern line between the 2 embossings.
  • Using adhesive attach the DSP.
  • Determine the placement of the image and then the placement of the flag. Attach the sentiment flag using adhesive. Attach the image with Dimensionals.

Insert: Whisper White 5 ¼ x 4. I used the Adorning Accents Edgelits to trim a decorative edging on the insert and then attached with adhesive.

To purchase the needed supplies to make this card can be done through my on-line store at http://justbusystampin.stampinup.net/

*During August, if your on-line order total is not large enough to earn you hostess rewards you can use the Hostess Code TDWEZWHC and you will be entered into a drawing for the “Tags 4 You” Stamp Set (clear mount) found on page 37 in the Holiday Happiness Catalog. The winner will be announced on September 1st.
